Medium: Colored Pencil.

The Iris is a stunning example of the relationship between the flowering plant and pollinating insects. The position of the pollin-receiving and stigmatic surfaces on the outer petals of the flower create a landing strip for flying insects to obtain nectar while depositing pollen from another flower.

A gallery of studies of flowering plants including bulbs, trees, and plants, all indigenous to the northeastern region of the United States.
